4/10/16: Giants' huge comeback picks up Cueto

Giants looking great, starting out of the gate!

Giants, Johnny Cueto overcome L.A.’s 5-run first to win game, series

The desire to draw conclusions after one week of a season is just as absurd as the Giants hitting 14 home runs in the first seven games and presenting themselves as a team populated with Popeyes who can slug themselves into the playoffs.

An equilibrium is inevitable, with the pitchers improving and the offense following the schematic of a pesky team that wins with good situational hitting.

Not that Giants or their fans are complaining about the methodology behind a 5-2 opening week that ended with Sunday’s strange 9-6 victory and three wins in four games against the Dodgers.

Johnny Cueto’s first inning at AT&T Park in a San Francisco uniform was a Keystone Kops short. He hit Chase Utley with the game’s second pitch, tweaked his back and right knee with a spill behind the plate, and spotted the Dodgers a 5-0 lead, aided by another replay call going against the Giants.
