Does Major League Baseball need to be "Modernized?"

Saw a report on the news tonight where batters, or pitchers, or catchers can ask for a review of a called strike via replay. I believe it has been the grand old game since Day One and doesn’t need extensive electronic whizbangery. Last year the attempt was to shorten the game. This year more delays? Take me out to the ballgame. You Drive. I drink beer. We watch the batters and umps go nose to nose and growl. What could be more modern? Do we really wanna do away with Bryce Harper going insane over an Umps call?

I’m an obnoxious Philly Fan. Is there any other kind?

1. Been seeing it in spring training. Actually works pretty smooth...

takes like 10 seconds or less for a challenge. Limited to 2 failed challenges per game per team. Only the pitcher, catcher or batter can request one, with no input from the bench, so I guess if the ump hears the manager yelling to challenge he can refuse it. If a challenge succeeds, the team keeps it.

I like it so far. Won't be in play for the reg season.

3. I think all the teams need to move back to cities where they used to be,

and resume their original names. Dump the DH, and go back to umpires like Dutch Rennert that you could hear make the calls over the TV audio.
I'll never forget the night Atlanta played a July 4th game that ended on July 5th, and pitcher Rick Camp, possibly the worst hitter in baseball, hits a home run in the top of the last inning, then couldn't hold the lead and lost it in the bottom. How can you have games that exciting when pitchers never bat?

My grandfather gave me a transistor radio in 1964. A freaking space ship. I listened to the Philly games every night in my bedroom. My imagination ran wild. Phil’s had a big lead late in the season, the World Series Tickets were already printed. And then, poof. No Phillies in the World Series. That radio was the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Mostly because it was from my Grandpa whom I was named after and he died in 64 before the season started. Thx for the memories.

Dump the DH indeed. Who the hell has more time for batting practice than pitchers?

Relative to the 64 season I have just one word, Gene Mauch. Angel fans can relate. And in Philly Gene Mauch is one word.

5. I remember watching that July 4-5 game...

Rick Camp's home run (the only one of his career) didn't give Atlanta the lead, it tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the 18th inning (on an 0-2 pitch, I believe). Camp came up again as the tying run in the bottom of the 19th, but that time he struck out to end the game, at about 4:00 a.m.
