Chicago White Sox lose 121st game of the season, set modern-era MLB record for losses

The Chicago White Sox lost their 121st game of the season Friday, etching their names further in baseball infamy.

With a 4-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox fell to 39-121. They now hold sole possession of the MLB record for losses in a season in the modern era, a span that dates to 1900.

The White Sox were previously tied for the record with the expansion 1962 New York Mets, who finished 40-120-1. The Sox reached that low point on Sept. 22, with a 4-2 loss to the San Diego Padres.

The White Sox have two games remaining on their regular-season schedule and still have time to extend the record before their season concludes Sunday, putting it further out of reach of future exceptional losers.

Yes, we do. We aren't the shittiest team, but in the 1962 Mets defense, their team was a first year expansion team AZLD4Candidate Sep 28 #3

"Go You White Sox!!!!!". A guy from Chicago I know said attendance was so bad they dropped a lot of the ticket prices to $10 and still couldn't get a boost in attendance.

The fun thing about the 1962 Mets is that all former Brooklyn Dodger and NY Giants (baseball) fans loved them as terrible as they were. I have many happy memories of my father - Brooklyn born and bred - and among them was the joy he had going to a 1962 Mets game and celebrating their presence as well as their loss.

If the Mets don't make the playoffs - and it seems very possible they won't - well, it's the Mets. We take the good with the bad, and boy, have we endured bad.

If it's a consolation to any White Sox fans, seven years after losing 120, the Mets won the World Series.

filled with players that were at least five years past their prime or players that should never have put on a major league uniform.

When an over-the-hill Roger Craig and an extremely raw Ed Kranepool were your best players, you were bound to suck.

The White Sox suck simply because Reinsdorff is a fucking idiot. Same reason all Michael Jordan controlled or owned NBA teams suck.

...that even the Cubs fans around here aren't gloating or busting chops over it.
Even the Cubs people who are Sox haters are silent.
