The very definition of "Lack of Institutional Control"

(13,160 posts)In violation of state, local and university laws/regulations. Homer prosecutor and UM sat on case until football season was over and then gave probation.
How anyone can defend recruiting during covid when it, and any face to face contact, was prohibited by the NCAA is beyond me. Harbaugh basically thought the rules didn't apply to him, and then when evidence proves otherwise, arrogantly states that he never cheats or lies, thus giving everyone the middle finger.
The sad thing is that the university will fight the allegations tooth and nail, delay as much as possible, and then will claim with a straight face how unfair it is to punish current players who had nothing to do with it.

(21,750 posts)Was going 55 in a 25 residential neighborhood without a driver's license and with his glock with an extended magazine and 70 some other rounds laying on his back seat. It was a felony firearms charge, he got a ride from jail to the airport so he could make the team flight to play the next morning. Faced zero discipline from the program at the same time Harbaugh was yelling for oppositon players to be jailed.

(10,486 posts)Its an opinion piece that just regurgitates the same ol things stated in the first paragraph or two.
In the old days it was too much practice. Coach B suspended, hired as head coach.
Coach A too much contact/scouting out of bounds, And now off to the NFL! (To presumably avoid consequence and shame).
As if money and the pinnacle of football coaching were irrelevant.
Is the intent to say the reason that they were so much better is because of these things?
If so, it does a poor job of it and has the faint scent of weak sauce to it.
And I am really not trying to start shit here. The article is just not well put together and doesnt really say anything.
Lastly, F Jim Harbaugh.
The Broncos are going to work them this year in the AFC West. Hopefully

UM's Sudden Expulsion Of Brendan Gibbons For 2009 Incident Raises Serious Questions
Reported Tuesday, the permanent separation of kicker Brendan Gibbons from the University of Michigan raises a troubling question: Since Gibbons' alleged sexual misconduct occurred in 2009, why was he allowed to continue as a student and member of the storied Wolverines football program for the next three seasons?
According to the Michigan Daily, a document pertaining to Gibbons, dated Nov. 20, 2013, and signed by Stacy Vander Velde, associate director of the Office of Student Conflict Resolution, stated that the university's review of a sexual assault allegation yielded a significant amount of evidence of Gibbons' guilt. The findings prompted the University to conclude "the Respondent engaged in unwanted or unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature, committed without valid consent, and that conduct was so severe as to create a hostile, offensive, or abusive environment."
Gibbons played for the Wolverines days later, on Saturday, Nov. 23, against Iowa. He made all three of his field goal attempts. Gibbons did not play in the season finale against Ohio State - dealing with an injury, it was announced - or in the bowl game, ostensibly due to a family matter.
Though Michigan has now reportedly cut ties with Gibbons - now that he has completed his career as a football player and is fourth on the all-time list for field goals made - Michigan associate athletic director Dave Ablauf would not comment on the report.
