Ichiro Suzuki, criminally underrated career (Original Post) True Dough Feb 2023 OP
Hall of Fame without a doubt unlike Scott Rolen. Still don't get that one. chicoescuela Feb 2023 #1
He is not yet eligible for Hall of Fame. Sneederbunk Feb 2023 #3
How is he criminally underrated? Who has denigrated his career? rsdsharp Feb 2023 #2
Underrated? ProfessorGAC Feb 2023 #4
Well, I'd expect someone as thoughtful as Ken Burns to appreciate just how good Ichiro was True Dough Feb 2023 #5

He's a legend! He's a likely first ballot HoF member.
Ken Burns did a whole segment on him in the extra innings to his Baseball documentary.
I think the originator of this tweet has underestimated what others think of Ichiro.

But I've heard sports pundits/talking heads on various programs and podcasts discussing baseball's all-time greats over the years and Suzuki too often gets short-shrift, a casual mention. I think it's attributable to A) He wasn't a power hitter and B) His achievements in Japan over nearly a decade before arriving in the MLB are usually overlooked.

It was probably the power thing that affects it the most.
Thing is, his BP routine was legendary with him hitting 420 foot bombs all through the session then slapping singles during the game.
Also, what an arm! Powerful & accurate!
