I Might Have Underestimated

I picked the Bears to win 4 games tops, this year.
After last night, they've already won 3.
Maybe they suck less than I expected.
Still not good, but less rotten, if there is such a thing.
Maybe some hope for the future if a 2nd year QB can beat a Bellichek led team by 3 scores.
Yeah, I'm looking for a silver lining to this season.

Monday..we are so competitive, with everything.. win some, lose some..BUT..as Pats fans..(he is rabid Pats fan)..of course he picked Pats..it was Monday..He had to give me 8.5..we use the vegas line...I still wasn't confident going in..hahahahhaha..I win..I have been a champion of Fields..keep saying he will get bettah...(just my observation, Brady should have retired for good..but, he wanted to chase that SB win)..

In baseball.(Red Sox fans) I had SD each game..got thru the Mets, (shame on Showalter re" Musgrove...and I like Showalter..), SD through the Dodgers, oops, here comes Philly ..I was doing pretty good..had to break out my rolled dimes..

I still say Fields will start to shine..more than 4 wins..

Bears schedule - Miami, Detroit, Falcons, Jets, and Green Bay..

Detroit at Bears..5th win..??

no reason the Bears can't.

I like Fields at QB. Keep building around him.

...bleating about holding the ball too long, blah, blah, blah.
But, stats show that until Monday he had an average of 2.4 seconds before pressure. Brady leads the NFL in releasing the ball the quickest at 2.52 seconds.
They need an offensive line that do more than run block.

6. And get him a couple of reliable targets

The Bears' receiving corps has to be bottom 5 in the league.

Imagine if he had the luxury of Deebo/Aiyuk or Diggs/Davis or Waddle/Hill or Chase/Higgins/Boyd. I don't think Justin has one of the better arms in the NFL, but he would surely improve with some reliable and talented receivers. And he's lightning quick, which makes him dynamic.

As for the backfield, Montgomery is a serviceable RB, but there could be something special there with Herbert.

Chicago's D is middle of the pack in yards allowed per game and better than average in points allowed per game.

A few smart trades/moves in the off-season or good draft choices, and this could be a playoff team before too long.

But, he's got a long wind-up that is not a trait of an elite quarterback.
That can be coached, though.
But, he definitely has a fastball.
You're right about the receivers. Mooney would be a #3 on most teams, and Kmet is a 2nd string TE. Lower if he couldn't block.

But, the draft cupboard is bare after the dual trade ups for Trubisky & Fields.
And, after the Quinn trade they'll have $125million in cap space for next year.
Besides, Quinn has one sack this year. I don't know if there's something physically wrong, but last year he averaged over 1 sack per game. Perhaps he's not a good fit for the new defensive scheme. Don't know.
But, something is definitely different with Quinn this year.

Traded today to the Ravens. Then, the Bears sent that 2nd round pick to Pittsburgh for Claypool.
Heard it on sportsradio a while ago.

Claypool should turn into Fields' go-to guy. Hopefully they develop some chemistry and Claypool is a real asset for Chicago.

But giving up Roquan is a definite sacrifice.
