Premier League suspended after death of Queen Elizabeth II

The Premier League has suspended this weekend's fixtures as a mark of respect after the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.

The decision to postpone all matches from Saturday and Monday was taken after a Premier League shareholders meeting on Friday, which was held after an earlier meeting involving the British government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport and representatives from a range of sports.

The English Football League (EFL) and Women's Super League (WSL) have also decided to postpone their round of fixtures this weekend.

The Premier League did not hold a vote on postponement; instead, the board made the decision and the clubs agreed.

1. Not surprising at all.

We watch as many EPL games as we can, and we are both retired, so we see most of them.

Our sons are Arsenal fans, therefore, so are we. I would watch Arsenal games just to ogle Mikel Arteta - damn, what a handsome man.

My “secondary” team is Brentford, which moved up last year. (I don’t know if tradition “allows” you to support more than one team, but I’m doing it anyway). I was intrigued by the documentary about the loyalty of their fans over the decades, so I hope they do well. They are currently 8th in the standings.

I like the name Nottingham Forest, one of this season’s move ups. They are struggling.
