Big 12, Pac-12 won't partner up as extensive talks come to an end, per report

The Big 12 may be open for business, but not with the Pac-12.

Extensive talks of a partnership between both conferences that spanned over two weeks have officially ended, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Monday.

According to the report, the deal didn’t work for the Big 12 because of multiple reasons, including that it wouldn’t have driven much revenue to the league.

The Pac-12 was rocked last month when USC and UCLA shocked the college sports world to bolt to the Big Ten. The Big 12 is familiar with losing two marquee schools, as Texas and Oklahoma are set to join the SEC in 2025.

New Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, who replaces Bob Bowlsby, was officially introduced during the conference’s media days last week. He declared that the Big 12 was “open for business.”

Many would make the argument that it already has and I can't argue with them. Bigger money will only make it much worse.

One of the charms of college sports is that the country was was divided geographically and each reason would have its teams to cheer for. Well that ship said a long time ago. Now it is totally gone. In my mind the ACC was the first to step out of their area, but others quickly followed chasing the big, big bucks.

So now college sports officially leaves the fantasy of doing sports for the love of it. Now we have at least 2 mega cross country conferences. Since the fantasy of of the scruffy team that rises from nowhere is long gone college sports will join the list of sports I simply have little interest in watching.

College kids will now be playing football, basketball and maybe even baseball for millions. I prefer to go to the local park and watch the kids play for ----- fun.
