Related: About this forumDon't talk to much about sports talking heads, but one I really like and enjoy is Mike Tirico.
He is classy, sweet, smart, human, not out to talk over others, just a mans man/womens announcer. Love him. Anyone else have a favorite??

(31,804 posts)Sports talk radio host in Cleveland, New York and San Francisco.
Often credited with inventing "modern" sports talk. He could be loud, brash, opinionated, controversial. But the guy knew sports. He was a lot of fun.
His heyday was in the 1970's in Cleveland at 50,000 watt WWWE. His broadcasts could reach 30+ states and half of Canada on a good night.

(14,322 posts)I always liked Tirico, but when I learned about his "unfortunate" history with women he's worked with, it dampened my feelings about hi as a broadcaster. (OTOH, I'm nonetheless happy he's replacing Al Michaels on SNF)

(14,322 posts)but long story short is that he's sexually harassed and stalked female coworkers in the past and ESPN suspended him for 3 months because of it. When NBC hired him, people rightly asked about his history and the network had to put out a statement that "Mike has repeatedly assured us that this behavior is long in his past, and we have no evidence of anything to the contrary in his tenure at NBC Sports."
I should also say--and this may be neither here not there, but it's just odd (and I only learned about this last month when Tiffany Cross mentioned it on her show--that Tirico denies being black. Or maybe refuses to identify as black? I don't know. He insists that both his parents are Italian American and as the old saying goes, "mama's baby, papa's maybe, but his parents divorced when he was very young and he had no contact with his father's family.
