Packers reportedly trading Davante Adams to the Raiders

Aaron Rodgers about to lose his most trusted receiver and one of the league's best. Because Aaron Rodgers gobbled up so much money with his contract extension that there wasn't enough left over to keep Adams happy.

The Green Bay Packers are trading Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for two 2022 draft picks, including the Raiders' first-round pick (No. 22 overall), league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday night.

The Raiders are giving Adams a five-year contract, sources told Schefter.

The Packers were willing to match what the Raiders are giving Adams in his new deal, but Adams preferred to play elsewhere, a source told ESPN's Rob Demovsky. The Packers had used the franchise tag on Adams earlier this month.

Earlier this week, quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed an extension with the Packers, in a deal that is essentially for three years and $150 million. Rodgers was aware of the developments with Adams as they unfolded in recent days, sources told Schefter.

Aaron Rodgers + Davante Adams meant that Green Bay had a good chance at winning the NFC next season. Now this trade lowers their odds.

I wasn't aware of the fact that Davante Adams and Derek Carr were successful college team mates, or that before the trade was officially finalized that Adams had bought a house near Carr in Vegas.. I wish them the best of luck, but Derek Carr is no Aaron Rodgers...

but he is a little underrated in his career and Adams will make him look much better.
