(20,257 posts)Brady has shown on numerous occasions in his career that he'll take a pay cut to improve the roster around him. Beyond his football career, he's been raking in plenty of money through endorsements and his TB12 empire. It's not like the guy needed to be paid by the Bucs in 2022 in order to scrape by.

(29,348 posts)Or he didnt feel the Patriots were doing enough to improve the roster but one of the reasons why he left the Patriots was he was tired of taking a pay cut. Plus I see him in more commercials than I used to so more money was definitely a factor when it came to leaving the Patriots.

(20,257 posts)Brady's cap hit ranks 13th among NFL quarterbacks. He's making less than Jimmy Garappolo, Ryan Tannehill, Caron Wentz and JARED GOFF!!!
Brady will cost the Bucs $20.2 million this season. Aaron Rodgers will cost the Packers $46.7 million this season and there's not even enough money left over to make Rodgers' #1 guy happy, Davante Adams. That's not putting team first, as Brady has done for 20 years.

(54,770 posts)half-assed, its still better than what theyll have a QB.
And he can always go down with an injury if his heart isnt into the game once he gets hit a few times.

(3,541 posts)Its really hard to leave something youre good at, that pays you very well, and gives you a lot of attention. Overstaying your welcome tarnishes your reputation in the short term, but over time, no one remembers Kareems last couple seasons, or Joe Montanas, etc., they remember their careers. Its pretty clear that LeBron, for example, is on the same path. Most people wont mind too much, unless they already didnt like the guy.

(20,257 posts)He's getting close to taking the all-time NBA scoring lead and his son is probably a couple of seasons away from making his NBA debut. Lebron wants to spend at least one season playing alongside his son. I can't blame him on either count.
