Ever had a character "Photo Bomb" other stories you are writing?

I somehow have created a monster.

When I write, I do two at once. If I get stuck in one, I go to the other for a while. Well with the two and a half ( a novelette) I am working on there is a character that started in one and for some reason wants to worm into the others.

And he does work in the other stories as well. He was just a bit guy, but he works so well.

I did not think of binding the stories together, but this guy is changing that a little. He is still just a bit player in all the stories, but his character is that same in all the stories.

Ever have this happen?

1. author Ross Thomas would do that with several smaller characters in different novels

and after a while you realize all the lead characters (some repeat in the novels) live in one world.

2. I have not had that happen to me, but it's something

Larry McMurtry and Norah Lofts both did very well. With them, someone who is a minor character in one novel may well be the focus of a second one. Personally, a huge reason I like both of those authors is the way characters may show up in different places. They also both write books I enjoy reading, which helps.

3. King did that with several characters,

Mike Hanlon was a major character in it, appeared in Insomnia as did other Derry resident. Other of his minor characters appeared appered in several books and stories.

4. Pynchon did that with a character named Pig Bodine.

Across several of his books.

5. Go with it. That character wants to be the star of your next book.

The best characters I ever wrote were the ones who walked on and took over.
