The Utopian Madness of Hunter.

Disclaimer: Hunter is on the crazy-meds-merry-go-round again, and today he's supplementing crazy-meds with beer.

Today annabanana posted this in GD:

Have just discovered "Looking Backward" by Edward Bellamy... http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002499669

This seems to me a message in the tea leaves, or Philip K. Dick's VALIS talking. Just last week I revisited the Utopia of Edward Bellamy after an absence of thirty years. The next morning I was impelled by mysterious forces to write my own sequel and slammed this out:

http://izpics.com/jw/jw2.html (browser ready)

Don't click the link just yet until I explain myself a bit.

First, I have a very thick skin and won't be upset if you call it crap, or think this is an issue of my general mental health or immediate sobriety. I've been on the internet since 1979 and survived the most toxic burning pits of usenet hell. My skin and skull are thick, I'm a bit autistic, and in high school they called me "queerbait" beat me up, and vandalized my bicycle. Whatever you might say, I've heard worse.

Second, I was trying to mimic Bellamy's nineteenth century English, and excusing my failures as those of the narrator.

Third, your browser may not render my bastard version of multi-markdown well. If you want to share in my madness, you may want to download the text and use notepad, gedit, or some other simple text editor to read it. Update: Added an html version, no need look at markdown text if you don't want to.

I can see what you are trying to do, the only real comment I can make that seems like it might be useful is that your vocabulary/usage seems a bit too modern in places, to me.

Of course for a modern mass market sort of audience, it could be better that way.

YMMV.
