Well, I know this might not be the best place to post the above observation.

Sadly, really could find no other place. Doesn't work for Lounge, was going to use Philosophy (only to find it 'retired')

Two arguments for posting here: 1) Witty; 2) Comes from Anu Garg's A.Word.A.Day website where one oft finds craft-worthy words

Had posted in Philosophy, would have made extensive observations on the image he used to accompany it—Mikey-A's "Last Judgement"

Mike painted this over the altar in the Sistine Chapel about an eventful quarter of a century after doing the Sistine Ceiling.

During that time The Catholic (ie "Universal"—although already split from the Eastern Church) Church of Rome was being riven by the Protestant Reformation. He felt the agony of that dissolution.

The calm and peace of the (all white) people on the ceiling, has gone by the wayside. Instead a vengeful Christ, with his mother shrinking away from him, raises his arm in violent judgement of humanity.

Tellingly, the figure to Christ's left depicts Saint Bartholomew who was flayed (skinned) alive for The Faith and who clutches that skin in his hand—and the face shown on that skin is widely accepted as being a self portrait by Michelangelo.

This *not* being the Philosophy Forum, will just leave it there ... save to remind us that Artists are People Too.

Oh, and do recommend A.Word.A.Day to anyone interested in writing. This post of his, besides throwing shade on politicos, sorts out desert, dessert and dissert

One more, and amusing thing to mention, is that only as getting ready to click POST, did I see that had written "alter" for "altar". I've always been an atrocious speller—but a good proof-reader.

There are indeed strong tropes and story archs that include the villain still getting their just desserts after some level of corrupt prosperity.

Richard the 3rd is the foundation for much of it. And House of Cards is the modern adaptation (the villains also get elected). Perhaps we can get a more apt update based on the current disaster, soon.
