Charles Manson death: Legal fight over cult leader's body

8 January 2018

A hearing is set to begin in Los Angeles to decide who has the right to the remains and estate of cult leader Charles Manson, who died in November.

The 83-year-old was not originally thought to have named a next of kin.

But multiple claimants have emerged, including a pen pal, an estranged grandson in Florida and another man claiming to be Manson's long-lost son.

A lawyer representing the county where he died described the legal case as "really weird" and "like a circus".

What could he possibly have for an estate? He lived most of his life in prison and had nothing before that.

Lots of dead people continue to make big bucks - Elvis and Cobain for instance.

Why would someone buy a tshirt with Manson on it? No idea but people do.

Sell his likeness for various things and I guess any personal possession would fetch a nice sum of money. A used kleenex, his tooth brush etc.

I was thinking money in an account or some property, which I guess his paintings would be.

The Beach Boys used some of his material before the murders. Guns n Roses covered some his songs. He was a cult figure in more ways than one.
