I saw two different "Star Trek II"s this week on the big screen

A theater showed "Wrath of Khan" this past Saturday, and that was a lot of fun. I also thoroughly enjoyed "Into Darkness" last night. Apples and oranges, to be sure, but it was great to get to see both, especially in that short a time frame.

Perhaps not a much as the first one, but it was definitely an enjoyable movie. I thought about writing up a long review of it but everything I could say has already been said.

Loved the obvious swipes at post 9/11 US foreign policy.
The Spock/Uhura dynamic is great.

I really don't buy the criticism that the film is just a rehash of events we've seen before. We're in an alternate time line where things will play out almost as they previously did. Because of the events from the first movie, we have a more advanced Starfleet.
