Numenera

If you haven't read about it, or seen it, Monte Cook, one of the original designers of Dungeons & Dragons, has written a new tabletop RPG that is being translated into a video game as the spiritual successor of Planescape: Torment.

Take a look at some of the artwork and books here:

Set 1 billion years in the future, there have been 8 previous worlds on Earth. This is the 9th world, a medieval-esque science-fantasy with the most bizarre and intriguing blend of fantasy and science fiction.

I highly suggest it, if not simply for the artwork. The game rules are lean and easy to learn (and have an app to make characters, simplifying one of the steps to play greatly).
