Time of the Dinosaurs
The landscape staggers
Titanic creatures rock the ground
Destroying all underfoot
Leaving tracks, permanent
Consuming all they see
Some even eating flesh
Until there is only one in sight
A monopoly of power
Eradicator of life
What will it eat now?
On the horizon, disaster looms
For the creature all-powerful
An unknown torment
Will crush the Dinosaur
With inconceivable velocity
Leaving nothing but scattered fragments
Of bone in the choking smoke
No Dinosaurs remain
All destroyed or consumed
No apparent life remaining

In the shadow of the rubble
A stirring in the darkness
One tiny mouse peers out
Scanning the remains of this world
Seeing no threats
Cautiously stepping into the unknown
Searching for any food
It is fortunate enough to find
Who would think that this tiny creature
Would be the future ruler of this world?
