Like a python in waiting
Or a wolf in the shadows
A shark in the distance
An eagle hovering high
But all of the fearsome
That wait for an opening
To lurch into view in surprise
A disaster in the making
An unexpected visitor
A plague, illness, accident
A conspirator in time
So what will it take
For anxiety to quieten?
What will it take for fear to subside?
When all hot emotion
Has cooled from an ember
To ice, a realization
That all is in line
And the silence returns
Full circle.
