1. Reach into the seat-back pocket and fetch the barf bag.
2. Open the barf bag and stare into it.
3. Feinting a moan or gag helps, too.

Not only will all conversation near you stop, but your seat mates will scramble to any open seats anywhere else on the airplane, leaving you - possibly - with an empty row to yourself.
