Attention WOT fans

Brandon Sanderson has just announced that he has finished writing "Memories of Light" the final WOT book. With revisions and such he projects it will be out next fall. I'll be waiting with baited breath!

Now I know when to start my grand re-reading of the series - probably April or May. I've actually held of on reading Tower of Midnight until Memories of Light comes out.


Have you read any of Sanderson's own stuff? It's really great. Probably my favorite new fantasy author.

I'm actually re reading WOT right now, hoping that the last book would be out in the Spring. Ah well.

6. I just finished the final book of THE MISTBORN TRILOGY...

I found this series fascinating at first. Then between books two and three, I read the first book of THE WAY OF KINGS. That book blew me away and I can't wait till he finishes his continuation of that story. I went back and finsished A HERO FOR THE AGES, the final Mistborn book, and found it dragging past the middle. I rarely skip to the last few chapters of a book, but I did this time 'cause I was fast losing interest. I didn't like the end. It wasn't a bad ending, but it wasn't an ending that fit the first two books.

I have found, though, that it is not uncommon for a fantasy series to end with a whimer. I think that perhaps authors have lived with the stories so long that they get get tired of it and get a bit sloppy and leave things out that would have a more finished well done work.

Still, pretty inventive world-making there. His stand-alone books are very good as well, such as Elantris and Warbreaker. I agree with you on The Way of Kings - that series, at least as indicated by the first book, looks to have the potential to stand up with WOT and SOIAF in terms of modern fantasy epics.

3. I just saw that on his site. I'm happy it's finished but wish it was coming out a little quicker.

I've been reading the series for almost 20 years. I believe I was 15 when I read the first one. That's a hell of a long wait.

Did you ever hear that Robert Jordan originally wanted everything burned if he didn't finish before he died. I am very glad he changed his mind. I think Brandon Sanderson has done a good job.

4. I never heard about him wanting to have it burned. That's a new one to me.

Sort of goes against the "about the author" section in the back of his books. Something about him continuing to write until they nail his coffin shut.

5. Awesome. I'll admit he's not as good as Jordan, but he is still good.

It sucks that we won't get any of the Outrigger novels though. I was looking forward to seeing Mat and Tuon retake Seanchan.

7. There are going to be more novels spinning off from WOT?

8. There was going to be before Jordan died.

He was going to write about Tuon and Matt retaking Seanchan. However, I don't know if there are any plans to write them now.
