1. I thought #7 was the last one!

I have lots to catch up on!

2. Started rereading the series in November and am on book four or five (can't remember which), but

I had to take a breather read a few other books for a while. Now I realize that I'm behind! I have to reread in order to remember enough to follow the various threads to the end.

Still, I can't wait till I can buy the book. And it will probably not be on January 8 because I had to have my transmission rebuilt and money will be very tight till the end of February. (Maybe I can squeeze a few extra dollars out of somewhere... )

3. Got my copy

That book is sitting on my counter at home, untouched.

I usually devour books. I mean, finish the thing sleep-deprived and coffee-saturated in the wee-hours of the morning.

I can't even pick this one up. Why?

Because I'm waiting for a long weekend, where I can stock up on my favorite reading snacks (good cheese, fruit, chewy bread, some nice tea), wear some comfy pajamas, send the family off for some fun shopping, and really savour this read. This is Jordan's legacy. The final collaboration, the end of a tale about the end of an Age, told while the storyteller had the End looming before him.

I'm certain that Sanderson's hand on the pen will lighten things up, but I plan on really enjoying this book in fine style.

5. I've had it since last week

I am having a hard time starting it.

Which is weird for me, since I tend to finish things real quickly too.

6. I gulped it down this weekend

May revisit for the little details with the audiobook later this year.

Found it ok, but, oddly unfinished. Don't get me wrong--I enjoyed my weekend and am glad I spent it that way. The book certainly has its joys and heartbreaks, highs and lows and ooooohs, as you knew it would. It's just that Jordan/Sanderson's creation was so complete and complex that I was hoping for something extraordinary instead of just good.

I'll let it settle for a while.

Plus, I think one of the Chosen cheated...

7. I see what you mean.

I read it this weekend.
Took me most of Saturday.

I feel like all the Chosen cheated. The naming scheme confused me for a while, since they ended up with mutliple names.

It is an ending, though I kinda wish he would be allowed to write something of that world just about a decade afterwards.

Some reason or another, my favorite secondary characters in the book are:

Galad Trakand
Min Farshaw

I'll probably read it again just to see if I missed anything.

Oh and on the subject of the Chosen, Demandred was worth the wait. Screw Mordin, If I was the Great Lord I'd make Demandred Nae'blis. But ugh there was a certain conversation between a certain descendant and ancestor that I would have given anything to hear.

And definitely with you on the Mordin/Nae'blis choice.

But to clarify: not really the Chosen cheating, Jordan/Sanderson cheating with the Chosen. I thought that who Demandred brought with him to the party was cheating in a narrative sense by the author--insufficient preparation in the previous books to even consider it. Too out of the blue.

Of course, I could have forgotten stuff from the previous 10K pages and 10 years. I came late to the party, only started the series in 2003.
