Need your help with a book title

And since I first read about it on DU (ages ago), I expect someone here to know what I'm talking about.

The book was written in the late 50s or 60s by a male author. It deals with group psychology, particularly mob rule and groupthink as they relate to authoritarian societies, and was written in large part in response to the Holocaust and the question of why so many people went along with it. As such, the book quotes Hannah Arendt. I think the main point of the book was the ways in which humans, in particular Americans, are taught to be sheeple and do bad things in groups.

Halp!
