Update - I didn't get enough votes, but the love all of you showed for me is much, much appreciated.

Please accept my thanks in advance. I launched my book, Afro-Bougie Blues, a month ago, and have since learned, painfully, that if you dont constantly advertise and promote, nobody sees/buys/reads the book. So, I have been promoting the book on-line, and have had a smidge of success. It went live on June 3rd and I have sold 60 books. (Woo Hoo!) Now, I have a new opportunity. A website called Reedsy has a competition. Whoever gets the most likes gets their book in a newsletter. I have no idea how many likes I need, but if you can, please go to this website and click UpVote, betweem July 6-12.

(6,278 posts)You can get it from B&N (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/afro-bougie-blues-lauren-wilson/1141585469?ean=2940186581659), but my website won't be up for another week.
I'll post the link here as soon as it's live.

(24,145 posts)I went there, but it said you have to open an account, or sign in with FB, or give them your email address.
I don't want to do any of those things. Is there an alternative?
Wishing you the best.

(13,772 posts)I tried creating an account using a getnada email address.
For various reasons, it is not working. (My Firefox add-ons kill CAPTCHA, so I have to go back to Safari)
The procedure is to go to getnada.com
You will be given a random email inbox, or you can "add inbox" to choose one of your own at one of their domains.
You can use this to receive emails, but not send them. This is usually enough to sign up for stuff, and get a link in your incoming email to click on, to verify the address.
CAVEAT:
Anyone who knows the email address (unlikely) can read the incoming messages, so delete after reading (easy)
Messages over a month or so old are automatically deleted.
After all, giving anyone your email address is likely to get you lots and lots of spam emails.
Use once, if you like, and ignore forever.
Or use it again. Your choice.

(6,278 posts)Not wanting to do any of those things. I like the idea of a dummy address, but that's a lot of bother. So, to you, I say, THANK YOU!!!! for being willing, and worry not that they stuck that requirement in there.
Meanwhile, feel free to read the story.
I'm going through and unsubscribing to the ones I no longer want.
I do not enjoy clutter in my feed.

(6,278 posts)I'd love it if you could write a review when you're done, if that's not asking too much.

(6,278 posts)The review never showed up.
It may be that you're not a regular Amazon shopper. You have to have spent at least $50 on Amazon for them to let you post reviews. It doesn't have to be on that book, but something.
It's okay - it's just good to know that you liked it.

(38,238 posts)I see my review, posted July 6. I don't know why you don't. ???

(6,278 posts)It's because you posted in DU on July 30th, so I was assuming (silly me!) that you had posted your review that day.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your review.
