Fiction
Related: About this forumI'm currently reading SQUEEZE ME by Carl Hiaasen.
The novel is set in southern Florida, of course and it has the usual cast of flaky eccentric characters. The president and first lady in the book, who he calls by their secret service code names, Mastodon for him and Mockingbird for her, own a place in Palm Beach.
Im about a hundred pages into it. So far, so good. I needed something light.

(120,858 posts)This one is just as deranged as the others, with the addition of a Trump character.

(17,757 posts)Some are more deranged than the others. I can't recall the title but the one where the guys limbs rotted off one at the time was weird even for Hiaasen.
I think have read all of his books up to maybe five years ago.

Chomp, Scat, Flush, Hoot, Squirm, and Skink No Surrender
So far I have read Chomp and Flush. At least one of them won a Newbury Award.
It is totally because of Hiaasen that I can not resist a book set in South Florida.
If you can find it check out "Naked Came The Manatee", a serial novel written by writers from South Florida. Each one writes a chapter, and pretty much takes the story off on a new wild tangent.
The first chapter was written by Dave Barry. Hiaasen, Edna Buchanan, Elmore Leonard and others also have chapters.
