Oh brother, can't believe it... Chapter 3 of the Butchers...

Curmudgeness and I submitted remarks about Chapter 3, and I swear we're reading two different books.

I think it's hysterically funny...

Please someone else join the group and give us another perspective, I think I am losing my mind, just a little bit, and I don't have much to spare.

Very difficult, this book group. Took me ages to write the discussion, much longer than it took to read it, and I did read it twice...Maybe it was making 2 pies and I got flour in my brain.

On to Chapter 4....

this discussion is one of the most fascinating books I haven't ever read!

I swear, I love hearing both of you and I am actually enjoying this book very much. The characters are really something.

You two are doing a great job and it's very interesting.

I'm waiting for more and just wish you'd both read faster!!! LOL

when people in a discussion group do not have the same opinions, the discussion really is better. When it is just a love fest, you don't get into all the details of what makes you think the way you do.

You are not losing your mind. Seeing things from different perspectives is normal, or we would all be the same----and isn't that boring!

Odd, I was just thinking of making pies yesterday too....but I let the urge pass. Now you make me feel lazy!

I also find that writing the discussion takes quite a while. I really like doing this chapter by chapter in one way, since we go into more detail about things than if it was just in a few parts, but it does take a lot of effort. But I'm up to the challenge, having started it. Just don't leave me now! I am enjoying bouncing things off of someone else.

Nor should you leave...

We can't let Little Star down since she's so deliriously happy when we're hopelessly out of any chance of agreement, therefore, I'm not going to follow my natural desire to make peace...

On with the battle, erh, I mean, discussion....

Chapter 4, maybe tonight - 15 minutes to read, 1-1/2 hrs. to post..

Might have some further comments on Chapter 3..k

I hope misspelled banana comes into the discussion soon..

What is this about a misspelled banana? Anything can come into the discussion, just throw it out there. That is the whole point.

And no, don't make peace. Don't battle either, but stick to your gut feelings about it. That is what I like, different views. And who knows, by the end of the book, I may be right there with you in my opinions. You know how that goes---as you find out more about a character, you change your initial opinion. It happens.

If you feel like you are posting for too long, you can so less summarizing what we have read---although I am sure that Little Star will be disappointed at not having a review. I am amazed at how much you remember about that has happened in the chapters. Much of it seems to go into my brain and right out again as just fluff. I think I am more of a "how did the chapter make me feel" type. Your reviews remind me of things that I had dismissed, but you can cut it down if it is taking too much time.

Sometimes this feels like that book reports we had to do in school, doesn't it?

On edit: OK, I get the banana misspelling comment.

She does an excellent job. But I know that it is time-consuming. This is harder than it looks!!!!
