For his 20th birthday, our grandson asked for a pair of Dickies bib overalls.
Seems that the latest fashion.
He's going into his junior at William and Mary in August.
I love overalls.
Lots of pockets.
Comfortable, no belt.

But now, it's a fashion statement?
Go figure.

Oh yeah...I looked up 'overalls fashion' and learned that to can pay over $1000 for 'designer' overalls.

They were quite popular when I was in college in the early 70s. But only for girls. I never saw any of the guys wearing them.

Just saw this as a "latest thread" and am glad I was here at the right time!!

I was a teenager in the 1970s, when overalls had a fashion trend, along with jeans/dungarees. My mother, raised in Oklahoma where her Dad had a small farm and taught agriculture, shook her head. "I don't understand WHY you all want to look like farm hands!" she sighed.

starting in the late 70s. I still have a pair but I need to lose 5 pounds to fit into them again. I save everything in my closet. The "cool" students in high school always wore them with one strap hanging down...a very good look.

25. I've worn through a few pair...

And bibs dress too. Loved those things, no waistband. I bought some a year ago but I lost weight and they're way too big for me, cost $60 at the yard and barn.

I don't care if they're fashionable, they're comfortable. And considering a lot of people, since pandemic lockdowns and such, are into comfort clothing, I can see overalls becoming a thing.

and painter’s pants, carpenter jeans etc …
I txtd my daughters with the gist of this thread, and they both have some to wear now, I found pics of them as toddlers wearing them to show that they got an early start 😃
Plus, I’ve bought pairs for my grandkids too, and they love them !

I would love to find some lightweight cotton overalls for the summer, as my denims are a bit hot nowadays …

15. I had an overall outfit in 76.

My Mother hated it and said it make me look country. I Rembrandt she would give me a bad look when I wore those overalls! I actually have a few pictures of me in those overalls. But I didn’t like it when I had to go to the bathroom because it took longer to put it back on!

The new ones are cute though with the wide legged pants ( again another throw back to bell bottoms)
