Related: About this forumI was invited to log into my Social Security account to find next year benefits
from an email today.
What surprised me, once I was in, is that there were two notices, identical, one from Nov. 25 the other from today. I never received an email on Nov. 25th, or about that time...
Oh well..

Have been getting them this time a year for the past two. And, with many sites these days, user ID and password are not enough, a code is sent, either to my mail or to my iPhone.
And, all it had was telling me how much I am getting next year. Yes, more.
Also, how much I "earned" in 2019 which, in my case is $0.00.

(34,195 posts)I have an account with each with password protection.
Before logging in I always check the address from which the email was sent to make sure it's not fake.
I also get emails from the New Mexico department of human services (or whatever it's called).

Social Security will email you when you have a new message at your MySocialSecurity account. Also, they will text you a code to verify your identity when you log in to the site. I always go to the web site on my own but I know the link from the email is OK; however I would go there on my own as with all my other stuff like bank, credit card, etc.

(14,658 posts)To me clicking on a email invite is just asking for trouble. Just open another tab or window and log on to the website if your curious..YMMV
