I did not remember to ask, but the cashier asked me if I was a veteran.

"Sheets gives free coffee for veterans?"
"Yes, but we don't advertise it."
Turns out she saw the USAF wings on my ID bracelet.
Miz t. gave it to me on our first wedding anniversary in 1970.
It also has the date that I got my wings.

20. oh my gosh, I actually remember 1964

we had to get passport pics taken (USAF move), and my four year old autistic brother refused to look at the camera.....I told him THEY WON'T LET US LEAVE UNTIL YOU LOOK AT THE CAMERA......he finally looked up - in the picture he looks pissed. That picture has been in my purse for decades.

He died Wednesday; it wasn't unexpected, he had been in hospice for the last nine months but I was never able to visit him due to covid, and that really sucked.

our four lane main street and hit a restaurant. He'd just had his usual two drinks and was leaving the Eagles lodge. I was with his son just two weeks before. He was asking the bar manager about his dad's driving because he'd heard it was getting scary. Old crank down the bar jumped on him for it. He said, "that has to be his decision!" Bullshit! He could have killed someone.

I worked with Low Vision patients. I understand the huge step this takes as a professional. Every time I am watch a very hesitant driver make obvious mistakes or at least poor decisions I am torn between understanding their need to stay independent and their denial of their vision problems. We have only just begun to address these issues. They aren't easy for anyone. Thank you for taking this decision and making a public statement about it. It makes it easier for others to do like wise.
