3. Getting to practice

4. Things are going well, except for the sudden appearance of DEER in my back lot

And that back lot is right next to my vegetable garden. They generally are contained in a wooded area on the other side of a busy roadway, about 1/2 mile from my house. Now with little traffic, they are boldly wandering through my suburban neighborhood and, it seems, settling down in the back lot to sleep.

I'm going out to buy some deer deterrent spray, tomorrow, although I doubt it will really work. So, I might also order some coyote urine. I seriously can't believe I'm even considering that!!!

Fortunately, that is my biggest stressor, right now.

5. Gardening has been great!

This spring has been spectacular - azaleas and rhododendrons blooming like mad! Our wisteria was breathtaking.

It's a nice reminder that life does, indeed, go on. And that there is beauty still in this world.

Now let's go out and beat this MF in November!

7. Spring is beautiful, many projects going on and

so far so good. Closures are a bit of a challenge but the way it has to be.

Nothing compared to many people all over struggling with real hardships now.

This pandemic has just started, it could be another year or two, heaven help us.

10. Calling upon all my inner "Be an Adult" reserves.

Despite being a semi-old coot and with not much hair left I definitely need an haircut. I can hear my long-dead mother's voice saying, "You look like a ragamuffin!" I'm in Manhattan so being in a major Corona epicenter these last few months has been quite an experience. All things considered, managing OK. Thanks for asking.

11. We are placing our housemate in dementia, assisted living on July 6.

Three of us own the house and have lived together, off and on since 1982. She is in poor health and 'sundowning." If she falls, we cannot pick her up.

So, we are moving her to assisted living, "memory care." Between now and 7/6, we need to set up dialysis care, 8 replacement physicians and God knows, what else. We will get the requirements from the facility in this week's mail.

While we know its for the best, there are guilt feelings about putting her at risk of dying from stress of the move, and possible C-19. N.J. nursing homes have been hit pretty hard with C-19, although this one had no exposure.


It sucks.

12. I am fine.

Perhaps the fact that I'm the healthiest person I know in any age group is a help.

I've also been retired, as in not working, for about six years now, so my life these days isn't as much different as it is for a lot of people.

I went on a cruise to Hawaii March 1-18, so I was very much shielded from the beginning of this whole thing. On the cruise, we of course were aware of the news, but we were all somewhat puzzled and befuddled by it, and had a strong sense of, "What's the bit deal?" When I got back the world had changed, especially since I got back to New Mexico, a state which was one of the first to shut things down. I'm glad they did. We've had fewer cases and fewer deaths than most other places.

I get together with a couple of friends, Nancy and Krista perhaps once a week. I talk on the phone to my friend Robert, and today for the first time since before I left on my cruise, we went for a long drive. Before, our friendship revolved around going for a drive and then stopping for lunch, which usually included a couple of margaritas. Today, we went into a local burger place and ate in the car. No margaritas, alas.

But back to your question. I am very well.
