Related: About this forumthese exercises have really helped my knee
some of you may remember I had a torn meniscus over 1 year ago. (march 2014).
I've done about 8-9 months of physical therapy.
Definitely it helped; initially I could barely drag myself from bedroom to bathroom.
when my medicare coverage for p.t. ran out about 6 weeks ago, someone turned me on to Robin McKenzie
(online).
he has exercises for knee, back, hip and neck. maybe more.
The knee exercises are simple and take just over 2 minutes to do.
When I started doing them, I felt intuitively that they were right for my knee.
He says to do them every 2 hours.
I can't do them every 2 hours. I do them when I can and when I think of them - several times a day.
Once when my right hip hurt, I did the hip exercise for that.
They work!
at least for me.
My knee is better than it has been. P.t. got me so far, but it didn't seem like I would go any further.
Now I definitely feel improvement, altho I am not where I was before the injury happened.
thought I'd tell others about them.
If anyone else does them, I'd be interested to know how/if they work for you.

(18,219 posts)but I have very painful knees. (This week, worse than usual since I have finally had a chance to get into the garden....yow.) Do you think these would help?

(3,864 posts)I'd feel safe recommending these to you.
Is it just "old age" or do you have arthritis?
I'd say try them and you will know if they help or not.
yeah, I still can't kneel, so in the garden i bend - which the therapists told is bad for my back, but what can I do?
NOT gardening is not an option.
so I bend a little, then I stretch..
btw, you might be interested in this for yr garden-

(18,219 posts)especially since they are not too time consuming or strenuous. I have no idea what the cause of my pains are, since I have never had it looked at. I hate to say "old age" since I don't feel old except for the knee pain. I do very little kneeling, and also do more bending, although unless it is one little weed that I see, I will just sit down and work from a sitting position. Elevated gardens sound nice, but I have too much time and effort invested in my beds to try to make changes now. That one is really nice although I would have no place to put it (trees everywhere). I do grow what I can in window boxes that I have hung all along the railing of my decks and porch...it reminds me of working with that elevated table.
Thanks for all the info.
