Related: About this forumFirst time doing a pick up order at Krogers.
Do you tip when they bring order to your car? And if so, how much? Thanx!

(68,294 posts)I would think the pick up is the same, but I admit I never did a pick up.

(13,370 posts)I got a “suggested “ tip amount (which I always doubled) . But that was actually Instacart, and this is Krogers itself
Irish_Dem
(68,294 posts)Oh I see, that is a difference, Kroger vs instacart.

(178 posts)I have been getting home delivery weekly since the pandemic. They don’t allow any of their employees to accept tips. I asked if I could tip, they said no.
marybourg
(13,370 posts)about tipping - or not, but there’s a lot of print there. I may have missed it.

(139,203 posts)never been there, and I bring groceries MYSELF to my car! (I do tip Dunkin folks who I ask to bring coffee to me in my car; NOT a drive-thru.)

(189,985 posts)Yes they pick your produce but if there’s a complaint they reverse the charges and sometimes get redelivered.
She once ordered “1 bunch of bananas” and we got 1 banana. We’ve received pictures of our order on someone else’s porch AND received someone else’s order. In the former, we got our order later.
Make capitalism with for you. Most are really good services and they fear bad reviews and bad social media more than anything.
We use Instacart.

(12,743 posts)And got 4 bunches. They were making banana bread for a while…

(189,985 posts)We had banana pudding for days.
marybourg
(13,370 posts)and they show them by the bunch, like bananas. So I ordered 1 bunch and got 1 tomato. Next time I ordered 4, and got 4 bunches, about 16 tomatoes!
I also had an order delivered to my neighbor. She was out of town, but had a door bell camera. While I was awaiting my order, in 110 degree heat, she texted me to go to her house and see what had just been delivered, because she hadn’t ordered anything. Yes, it was my order!
Still, delivery has mostly been great, but now I think I’d like to save the fee and possibly the tip, and give pick-up a try.

(24,906 posts)I found out that I saved enough money by not going into the store and buying frivolous things that weren't on my list to more than make up for the delivery fee and any tipping.
marybourg
(13,370 posts)Maybe I pick up something xtra 1 or 2x a year!

(24,906 posts)A good practice is to never go grocery shopping when you are hungry.

(68,294 posts)And calories.
I didn't do any impulse shopping.

(189,985 posts)Walmart used to make a good part of their profit (20%?) within 20 feet of the register. This was before they turned into 1/3 grocery stores.
A Coke is what $1.19 or so and it costs them maybe 30¢ the get it in the cooler.

(3,906 posts)Are tips accepted for Pickup?
While the gesture is appreciated, our associates do not accept tips.

(2,686 posts)When I pick up my groceries at Krog. I appreciate them doing the shopping for me because I hate doing it! If they aren’t allowed to accept a tip they will tell you. Both of my Krogers allow it. I shop 2 different Kroger locations. Also if you have paper coupons they will take them at pickup and amend your total.
marybourg
(13,370 posts)up having to go into the store because the app wouldn’t accept my parking space number ( until I got home. Then it registered) and the app said call the phone number on the sign. But the sign had no phone numbers. ( they changed the sign recently). Not a real successful initiation into “pickup” at Krogers. 🙄

(2,686 posts)When I went to pick up groceries at Kroger. I waited til someone came out with groceries to load in someone else’s car and got out and explained I didn’t have my phone and they went in and got my groceries for me! I hate when they don’t have a phone # on the sign to call. I agree that your Kroger pick up experience wasn’t stellar, for sure.
marybourg
(13,370 posts)instead of a phone #. I found out you have your phone read that through the camera. I’ll try that next time.
