I have a question about Medicare drug plans

I guess we are talking about what they call part D. I don’t have one I just have straight Medicare, so far my prescriptions have been quite reasonable with the coupon. But I have a feeling I’m going to be diagnosed with something that requires more drugs. Can a person sign up for part D drug plan any time of the year?

I also use Wellcare. I'd say check that out.

Also, see the post right under your post about drug prices. It's pretty informative.

I find it all so very confusing .

but delayed for about a year signing up for part D. Because I delayed the start of Part D, I now have to pay an $11.00/month penalty for life added on to my Part D.

You may want to make sure you don’t make my error.

4. I did the same thing. They shouldn't have let us sign up like that without fair warning. I didn't have a drug plan

for two years. If we get any penalty at all, it should end in my case after two years.

Is that documented somewhere? I thought the penalty for delay was permanent.

I hope you're right.

but GWB and the repugs in Congress, along with a few paid-off Dems, passed this Pharma-driven scheme. Part D is pure crap.

about the penalty if you delayed signing up for a drug plan. They really don't hide it.

9. How long have you been on Medicare? Medicare should be able to tell you what the penalty will be, if any.

Even with a penalty, it may pay to get Part D when it's available to you (again, Medicare should be able to answer this).
