Our debit cards were hacked. We've got about 2k to our name now, most of which will go to property taxes... The rest to car insurance bill. Xmas will be trying to keep us and the cats fed.

Since there were more than five transactions marked AMC, which I'm guessing is the movie theater, it looks like someone spent a lot of my money buying high dollar gift certificates for the holiday season. Merry Xmas, someone. Hope you enjoy carousing on someone else's pain.

Doesn't the card company protect you from theft? I thought people were protected from credit/debit fraud. Hope you get some restitution.

Tho right now it doesn't look encouraging. The banks have been hit hard with this through the last few years so they're now into protecting themselves more, IMO. I've belonged to this credit Union since we moved hete some 40 years ago. I have had issues b4 on hubby's debit card and they were added back to our account. But it was just one or two items and not much money. This time both cards were involved and a lot of money, comparatively speaking. So I guess rules are different. Funny, over the last 6 months both of us were told the .only company over our health insurance companies were hacked. There may be no dots to connect, but I've brought it up to CU and the police... shrug. No one seems all that concerned. The cynic in me says it's cos the amount was under 2k and we're nobodies. Doesn't shake anybody worry mode except ours.

Debit cards are treated more like paying cash straight out of your account.
