I am thinking of placing my beans along the wood privacy fence in our yard? Any thoughts on this instead of wire or trellis?

(6,581 posts)1. I assume on the sunny side.
That was thought one -- will they get enough sun. If its a southern exposure it would be fine.
The other thought -- because of the way they climb by twisting around things, will they be able to grab onto the boards and wind around them? If not, you may need to provide some kind of alternate method of support, such as running some strings from the top of the fence to the ground.

But you had the same thoughts as me. I wonder if they will grab onto the fence. It is rather rough so maybe so. I am running out of room in my beds and was trying to move some things around.

beans do fine with string for support.
