the Boog and I listening to the coyotes

On the back porch having coffee and my pipe. I enjoy sitting here listening to them , this morning their really talking to each other. The boog the chocolate lab is laying next to me. And when they start yipping his ears will perk up. I asked him what are they saying your K-9 relatives mister. Boog at times I can see his hackles up or I hear him growl laying next to me.

and grew up just a mile or so from Waggoner Ranch (the 2cd largest ranch in Texas). Listening to coyotes was always such a serene and almost supernatural experience. I live in a town now but miss the country often.

They moved back into Pennsylvania in our area years ago. We live around mountains and state forest. This morning they were really talking it up.

Wish I had a back porch now. Was raised in the country with big front and back porches, all with rockers. Don't see many folks sitting on the porch anymore, which is sad.

Do you want to join them. Do they get the boog DNA going you can hunt with them go wild eat chipmunks and rabbits or roadkill.
The boog replies leaning into me no man I’m cool here with the pack. Those coyotes have no sofa or bed or even two thirteen year old boys to love.

When my dog Kinsey hears them, she woofs softly, and perks up her ears.

A couple of years ago, one actually ventured onto our property. He was way in the back, by one of the apple trees. They usually stay away from people. When I took Kinsey out, she dragged me to the apple trees and went nuts sniffing.

There is no greater pleasure than to take a break and go outside for some fresh air and listen to the coyotes carrying on a conversation in the early hours of the morning. Like Boog and you, I wish I knew what the coyotes were saying.
Thanks for this TEB!

Around 2:30 a.m., there was a coyote - or maybe a couple- and they let out a bark- howl or whatever, under my bedroom window. Scared the living shit out'a me.
