What do you Boomers in this group think about asking Skinner

to combine our group with the seniors group?
It seems that looking at the topics we talk about, we have many similar concerns.

One member pointed out that we boomers could get lots of good advice from the older members.
This would be especially beneficial when we discuss Medicare choices, Social Security, retirement, etc.

Medicare confuses the hell out of me. And I think Mr Banana's pension might complicate my social security

. . ... Besides, at the age of 63, this Boomer is saying "potayto - potahto", if you know what I mean.

impact your social security if your combined income makes part of your SS taxable. Other than that, his pension is one thing, and your Social Security is another.

If you have a social security office near you, it's worthwhile to go in there and discuss it with them. Or you can go on-line. The http://www.ssa.gov/ website has much good information.

very much.

Hanging out with people older than I am would make me feel younger...

Only kidding!

Seriously, I think we all have pretty much the same concerns...or will have.

The only difference might be things that are generation specific, like with us Baby Boomers also being referred to as "The Woodstock Generation" but that doesn't mean the Seniors wouldn't be interested as well.

I know I'm always interested in things from their generation.

I've been here twelve years, and I too think he is doing a great job.

into a different forum/group, as long as it does not disrupt the integrity of the group/forum

For instance - referring to a humor group in LBN is not acceptable.

But referring a picture from the Humor Group to the Lounge, or vice versa , would be ok.

If in doubt, 2 choices I suggest - just ask in the Lounge, or if you are not comfortable with that, go to "Ask the Administrators" link right below the DU Lounge menu.

As for getting rid of the "slower" groups - I disagree

Think about it - "Loners" are just that - I could go on and on about the different groups/forums,

but one of the most successful attributes of DU is/has been it's willingness to support participants that are not in a political meld . .

Start chopping those select groups, they will go elsewhere

That's my take on it anyways . .

Boomers and Seniors...or Seniors and Boomers.

Let's face facts, if we hang around long enough, we'll all be seniors--should we be so lucky.

Nothing wrong with the younger whippersnappers helping the older seniors, and the seniors imparting their wisdom to the youngest of the boomers--who are over the half-century mark.

Pretty much all of the boomers are in the unrelenting marketing sights of AARP, or will be very, very soon!!!
