Purchasing and outfitting two Boeing 747-style jets for the new Air Force One fleet will cost ,35% more than previously estimated, the Pentagon says in documents reported Monday.
The project is now estimated to cost $5.3 billion, the Pentagons fiscal 2020 budget proposal says. Thats $1.4 billion more than President Trump has claimed the program will cost, Defense One reported.
Air Force officials have long believed privately that Trumps estimate of the projects cost was too low, Defense One said.
Two Boeing 747 jets originally purchased by but never delivered to a now-defunct Russian airline are parked at an aircraft boneyard in the Mojave Desert awaiting conversion into presidential jets.

Claiming "I'd love the new planes, believe me, but National Security must come first!"
Easy PR win for him with the people who don't know better, which is large part of the US electorate.

Lets save some money and give him one of those defective 737 jets.
