The Daily Show
Related: About this forumRanting on Viacom AND DirecTV!!
Thanks to BOTH of you (I blame Viacom more) tonight I will miss new episodes of both of my favorite TV shows for the first time that I can remember. I've been a huge fan of The Daily Show since Kilborn was the host and I have probably seen every episode since Jon took over. I have seen every episode of The Colbert Report. I admit that I watch way too much television but these shows help me keep my sanity in a world where politics and the media are truly crazy.
So, SCREW YOU - you bloodsucking greedy leeches! I pay a LOT for DirecTV and I'm sure my rates will increase no matter what agreement you may reach. Viacom is asking for a huge increase in fees from DirecTV even though their ratings are down because they know forcing programming to be taken away will infuriate people like me. Viacom is also taking episodes off of the internet??? I feel like an entertainment hostage! No, I won't go pay for Hulu just to watch these shows. I will pirate them before I'll do that. After all, I am already paying to see these shows. Bastards....

(2,307 posts)They gave me a package which was as good in some ways, better in others than my cable company who I switched to about 4 years ago when I got tired of Direct TV. I have found both were better than Direct TV and so far at&t is better than Charter.
But, I realize with you living in Alabama you may be in one of the areas where Direct TV is your only option. I looked into going with Netflix and Hula as a substation to cable but I wanted local programs and MSNBC. I am lucky in that by being in the outer limits "Greater Birmingham Area" I get the advantage of being in the city without the city problems, I have many friends who aren't so lucky.

(1,374 posts)And I definitely will if it somehow becomes permanent. Thanks for the info. I can get Charter but not sure about at&t. I really like DirecTV other than this debacle.
Anybody got a list of Viacom's advertisers so I can avoid them like the plague?

(3,073 posts)Seems like the message to us is screw the 20 million customers of both companies - we matter more. Am hoping I can watch on line- was really hoping they would have settled by now. Very disappointing.

(1 post)This whole thing is ridiculous. It should've been settled by now. I have had Directv for as long as I can remember and I won't be changing. Tried it once and that was a stupid mistake, literally came back to Directv the very next day. We called them today because we think it's ridiculous to be paying for channels that we're not even able to watch right now and they were eager to help us out. So give it a try. I'm missing some of my favorite shows tonight and not to happy about it. hope this gets resolved soon.

Jon absolutely destroys Rmoney over Bain, his blind trust and tax returns. Classic stuff.

(15,667 posts)I think since then he sold it again -- but I did not want that mofo making one cent off of this house! It was really fast and easy to switch and I prefer DiSH service, MUCH nicer plus it doesn't have as many glitches

(135,425 posts)Amazing how many new folk sign up here to sing the praises of Direct TV. I've seen four or five newcomers' posts on this subject --does DU advertise on Direct TV or something?
I've always found it cumbersome when I've used it at hotels and friends' homes.
