Am on hold with Direct TV now- this is absurd and I am very upset. Anyone else in the same situation?

(60,947 posts)We were considering dumping Time Warner for satellite, it's not going to be Direct TV now.

(1,374 posts)Both may be to blame but from what I've read Viacom's demands sound pretty unreasonable so I let them know if they didn't reach an agreement soon I'd start boycotting their advertisers.

(28,394 posts)I have been hoping that it would return by next week... I thought Jon was on vacation this week? I'm getting worried, though!
Please keep us updated, ok? Thanks!

(3,073 posts)They are giving me $5 off for 2 months (I demanded compensation) and gave me the link to the form letter on their website which I just sent a letter to demanding that they resolve this immediately. The service is lousy anyway- if my condo didn't have a contract I would cancel and get Uverse. Here when it rains, we loose all channels.
Infuriating. I don't believe this impacts the internet however- so I'm assuming I can watch on line next week but we pay a fortune for DirectTV and frankly, they should take care of their customers and deliver what they pay for. Even if it costs them money- they are making a fortune. Customers- who have a contractual agreement with a list of channels we pay for-- have rights too.

(1,374 posts)Viacom has pulled all episodes of The Daily Show and Colbert Report from the web. I'm gonna be very pissed if I miss either one next week.

(8,933 posts)for what we watched on it it wasn't worth it. We were on the 2nd tier so I could get MSNBC and i liked hallmark channel and the kids liked some of the kids channels only available on the upper tiers. I know what you mean though about how expensive it is. We were paying almost $100/mo. And our recievers were old and broken... the ones they sent to employees back when my hubby worked for a company that installed directv. Couldn't even get them to give us updated equipment if we stayed. screw em.

(446 posts)It's not true Viacom's ratings are down, that is DTV's propaganda, as are the ads saying Viacom want US to pay 30% more. Viacom wants DTV to pay them more, but I don't believe it's 30% and Viacom has not asked for an increase in 6 years. Meanwhile, my DTV bill has increased over 400%!!! in less than 2 years, and I can't pick and choose to pay for only the channels I watch, which is something DTV does but rips Viacom for doing.
I was going to switch anyway.
