Akron police said officers were called to the scene in the 700 block of Johnston Street just before 7:30 a.m. where first aid was given to the teen until EMS arrived. He was taken to Akron Children's Hospital in stable condition.
According to the 74-year-old homeowner, the teen forced entry into his home, police said. At some point during the ordeal, the homeowner confronted the teen and discharged his firearm, striking him multiple times. The homeowner was uninjured during the incident.
The 74-year-old Akron man, known to everyone as "Lurch" was half asleep watching television the morning after his birthday when he says an intruder knocked all the glass out of his front door and broke in.

Later in the article, he says in an interview ""Nobody else better break in, it'll be a bigger gun this time".
That's a rather foolish thing to say. When one is involved in a justified case of self-defense, even a justified one (as this appears to be on the surface), the last thing one should do is machismo bragging about the case to the media.

Anyone attempting forceful ingress to my domicile while I'm there? I will use lethal force if I need to. Don't want to, would rather someone just go away, but raging idiot? I'm under *NO* obligation, moral or legal, to risk my life for their sake. I don't own anything worth killing anyone over (does anyone?) but forceful entry into an occupied house can be reasonably assumed to be having your life in danger, regardless of what kind of flag is on the wall.
