Suicide and attempts

I've read that 'guns are evil' because (paraphrasing here) 90 Americans per day die due to gun violence. I'm not sure where that number comes from. Using the CDC's database I get 99.32 per day (36,252 in 2015) including all intents (homicide, suicide, law enforcement...). Suicides using guns account for 22,018 of those. That's about half of all suicides. I don't take suicide lightly. In fact, I consider that intent to be more of a problem than guns.

If you think I'm being diversionary because I favor an RKBA, consider this:
For 2015, self-inflicted injuries (excluding accidents, assaults and law enforcement) using all means amounted to 505,507. Over half a million people in America intentionally hurt themselves, many of these are likely failed suicide attempts. Of that half a million plus, 3,878 where the person used a gun.

Looking at the totality of these numbers 549,700 people inflicted harm on themselves and 44,193 succeeded in killing themselves.

Maybe I'm just totally biased here but could it be that this problem is a bit bigger than the 25,896 people who picked a gun to use to injure or kill themselves?

Bigger by more than 20 times.

For example, a lot of people cut themselves intentionally without trying to commit suicide. These should not be conflated with suicide attempts.

Many suicide attempts do fail. But most of the ones using guns succeed.

For 2015, the number of non-fatal self-inflicted intentional injuries via cuts and punctures was 113,736. However, regardless of the fact that many of these did not intend to kill themselves, these acts are dangerous, decidedly unhealthy and potentially lethal.

I infer here (maybe I read) that these are injuries counted by the CDC are only those severe enough to require medical treatment.
