(3,816 posts)"He chose poorly." Thankfully the "victim" was armed. Could have happened the other way around, with him receiving a ride to the hospital instead. This is why we argue for concealed carry. These things can happen at any time. Although, Waffle House at Zero Dark Thirty is not a good place to be...

(2,375 posts)...........and no comments from the pro-restriction side of the debate.
I don't think it's the least bit unfair to opine that were the race-roles reversed, the shooter would have plenty of posters chiming in to condemn him -- despite the fact that video evidence of defensive gun use typically is a cue to The Cricket Orchestra.
This is very obviously an incident which disrupts the narrative of the control brigade.

(671 posts)but this is why CCW permits should be available to all law-abiding citizens. This guy was minding his own business, but unfortunately some drunk assholes had to prove how bad-ass they were by getting in his face. He did nothing to provoke this, according to the accounts I've found and the video clip.
I'm waiting for someone from the echo chamber to explain why this is a horrible thing, a clear case of a gun-worshiper running amok. It would be right in keeping with the compassion posters there display on a regular basis. Case in point - there is a post over there right now claiming that when a father accidentally shot his daughter, it was an act of "deliberate negligence" and he should burn in Hell.

(706 posts)Especially for the one member of DU that can't post in this group that constantly uses the racist term "white wing gunners" and often stalks members of this group on other areas of DU who support gun rights and shitposts behind them, even when the OP and replies have nothing to do with guns.
They don't like us for our views and and probably don't want us as part of the Democratic Party, and the man in the video... well like you said, I'd like to hear their opinion of his actions. He's certainly not a "white wing gunner".

(17,493 posts)have concealed carry licenses and carry we may live in a more polite society.
I also favor states that have "shall issue" concealed carry over those who have "may issue." In may issue states there is always the possibility that a carry permit may be denied for racist reasons. All citizens who can pass a background check and training requirements should be able to legally carry a concealed weapon if they choose.
As I've said numerous times, Oregon and Washington were 'shall issue' well before Texas & Arizona. An inconvenient truth that the media won't touch, and "progressives" are therefore ignorant. Then too, when a state goes shall-issue it's not like suddenly the number of guns in public skyrockets........only a relatively small percentage of gun owners choose to exercise their right. Also, unimpeachable law enforcement stats from Texas & Florida prove that permit holders *are not* "spoiling for a fight" as many pro-restriction supporters dishonestly suggest. But hey -- "moral" poutrage needs to trump TRUE liberal values and the relatively weak deserve no force multiplier in defense against evil.
*On college campuses: "trigger warnings", "micro-aggressions" and "safe spaces".
*Stupifying failure to differentiate between criticism of a doctrine (Islam) and bigotry. (insanely conflating the two)
*Identity politics
*Culture war on the gun issue
I don't see a bright future for the party until we address these issues.
Proud to be a California liberal --- NOT to be confused with "progressive".
