North Dakota governor approves concealed guns without a permit
By Alex Dobuzinskis
North Dakotans will no longer need a permit to carry a concealed weapon after Republican Governor Doug Burgum signed legislation lifting restrictions, a victory for gun rights advocates that came a week after South Dakota's governor vetoed a similar bill.
The law, which takes effect on Aug. 1, mandates that gun owners only need a North Dakota driver's license or state identification card for at least a year before they can carry a concealed firearm in public.
Under current regulations, applicants must take a test to obtain a permit which entails fees of more than $100.
The measure, signed late on Thursday, was approved by the Republican-controlled legislature despite concerns over public safety if the state made it easier to carry hidden weapons. Advocates framed the issue in terms of the constitutional right to bear arms.

(2,375 posts).........are oblivious to the fact that Oregon and Washington allowed concealed carry *long* before "gun crazy" Texas and Arizona did.

(2,375 posts)......referenced in post #3. Permitless carry is a non-issue.
Guess you need to avoid Connecticut, Oregon and Washington as well, to name three blue states off the top of my head. Y'know......blood in the streets and all.

(832 posts)and another 2 (KY and SD) are still likely this year. At least another 2 are possible this year, but don't bet on it.

Alabama already has permit-less open carry.
I look forward to the HPN gun club embracing this result. Finally the South is rolling back it's racist gun policies.

(832 posts)US politics as well as gun laws do. At the same time that the Republican-controlled states are removing restrictions, the Democratic-controlled states are increasing them. CA has just implemented a whole raft of restrictions (on ammo sales, possession of magazines with capacity over 10 rounds, an expanded definition of "assault weapon" that will require previously CA-legal AR-pattern rifles to be further modified or removed from the state and prohibit future sales of previously-legal guns). NY, of course, implemented their own restrictions last year or the year before.

(5,046 posts)One side is clearly dominating this issue.... The other side only has influence in a "few" states, where they prove almost weekly, how "they want to take guns away"...
...So I say, let us continue to march onward...
