Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumSo...what about that tipping point?
It seems like for the last year or two I've been hearing about this upcoming "tipping point" from the control oriented folks. However, I haven't seen that phrase used in over a month across the entire gun control social media footprint. What gives?
Will the tipping point ever cometh?
Let me assure you, I was certainly displeased with Trump's election night victory. I just hope that the gun control folks will keep the empty rhetoric coming under a Republican administration. I'm sure people probably think I dislike gun controllers, quite the opposite. Without gun controllers doing their thing, it gets to be very difficult to raise money. Without money it makes pro-rights efforts very difficult. We still have plenty of work to do on campus and constitutional carry. Please don't let us down.

(1,941 posts)Lawful gun ownership had nothing to do with Newtown.
Today, CSGV had about 40 protestors outside of NRA HQ. In fairnesss, that's a huge turnout for a gun control rally.
Just a few miles away the Nation's gun show routinely attracts upwards of 20,000 attendees, 1300 vendors, and two miles of vendor tables stretched end to end.

(17,493 posts)gun shows and the empty shelves at gun stores every time the Democrats attempted to push gun control legislation through Congress to predict it would cost the Democratic Party dearly in upcoming elections.
And that is exactly what happened.
It not only cost Democratic candidates close elections in the local, state and national levels, it also probably cost Hillary enough Electoral College votes to cost her the Presidency. Never forget there are at least 80,000,000 gun owners in our nation and they are a formidable voting block as many actually show up at the polls to vote. Unfortunately for the Democratic Party they tend to vote against those who wish to ban firearms.
There are reasonable improvements that could be made to our national gun laws. They DO NOT include gun bans and limits on the amount of rounds a magazine can hold.

(5,455 posts)OH, FL & NC are all big gun owner states as well.
Of course the gun control extremists will NEVER even consider that they might be wrong and that THEY might have been the straw that tipped the election to Trump
Kang Colby
(1,941 posts)they could be repealed.

(2,375 posts)The religion of gun restriction is one that I fear Dems will never question. If you've been following the 2016 Postmortem forum you know that almost none of the DU members acknowledge gun restriction as a reason for Clinton's loss. I've lost hope. We're going to keep losing elections until we're toast.

I just can't figure out why you want to.

Why would you think that supporting an enumerated, constitutional (civil) right is in some way anti- Democratic?

Why would you think that I agree with everything you do?
And would you feel better each day if I wasn't in the same party as you?

(3,816 posts)as well as the 2nd. The "safe space" for "gun discussion" is over there, not here. Say what you want here (of course, within sensible reason), and you will likely have a spirited discussion. Over there, you can get banned for merely asking a question, as I did (I assume, as I wasn't told why I was banned).

(2,375 posts)Not surprised that you can't figure it out. It seems unfathomable to restriction supporters that gun rights supporting Democrats are steamed that we're losing elections that we deserve to win OVER A NON-ISSUE!!!

(14,559 posts)The pro-gun tipping point came in the 1970s when the gun makers took over the organization in a coup. There was no opposition for the fear and paranoia mongers. It took 40 years to get to where we are now.
Here is where the population of the US is now:

Give us the next 40 years and then crow like the rooster that takes credit for the dawn.

Trouble is, most of the ones that did turned out to be anti-Prohibitionists, and the ones that were/are
pro-prohibition did not vote at anywhere near the rate of the progun crowd.
Or maybe they did some careful research at:
https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s
and realized that rates of violent crime have dropped over the decades.
Apparently, the GOP aren't the only people relying on low-information voters...
