https://blog.princelaw.com/2016/10/20/va-actively-depriving-veterans-of-second-amendment-rights/I have never heard of a supervised direct payment status and I have no idea how the VA would have access to anyone's transaction information. Something is missing from this story. Have anyone heard of this?

(837 posts)The article claims that the VA not only has the authority to revoke a veteran's gun rights, but that they can control his or her finances. No, the VA has no authority over either. This is some scare tactic bullshit. The VA has problems, yes, but it just doesn't have this kind of power.

(671 posts)If you look online, you will find that the VA can indeed control veteran finances as far as pay and benefits owed for military service. Here is a link to the search page that has the VA document describing how this is done:
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=supervised+direct+payment+status+VA
As part of this, they must first declare the veteran to be mentally incompetent. Once this is done, they then report this information to the FBI , which adds this to the database used to run background checks under the "Mentally Defective" category. Go to this link and read for yourself:
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=supervised+direct+payment+status+VA
Once this has been done, then the veteran will most likely fail a background check. Depending upon where the veteran lives, it could also trigger a confiscation of any firearms he already has.
So there it is. It exists, but not for general finances. It doesn't automatically trigger loss of second amendment rights, but it can certainly lead to that.

(6,133 posts)After all it was said 100s of times, with such emphasis that the right could not be wrong and no longer have guns because they are always right.
Or are they always full of shit?
