Gary Farmer easy choice in Florida Senate
The good news:
The problems:
I'm not a fan of warning shots nor am I a fan of life in prison as punishment for such an offense.
From the same article:
And hes blasted Waldman (his opponent in the primary) for supporting two gun bills backed by the National Rifle Association, including what became known as the "pop tart" bill, named for its connection to reports of a Maryland 7-year-old who was suspended from school for chewing his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun. The bill was aimed at preventing schoolchildren from being disciplined for simulating guns while playing or for wearing clothes that depict firearms.
I understand a zero tolerance for violence and threats of violence. Suspended for chewing a pop-tart into the shape of gun? Really? Exactly who felt threatened? Maybe the kid had behavior problems. Maybe he needed counseling. One thing I'm sure of, whoever felt threatened by that pastry definitely needs counseling.
The pop-tart incident happened in Maryland but the ripples are spreading across the pond.
