Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumDeep Blue Illinois now over 2,052,443 FOID Cards
One of the other CC trainers did a FOIA request to the Illinois State Police last month. He does it once a quarter to keep track of the trends.
As of the end of the day on Aug 31, 2016, there were 197,860 active FCCLs (Concealed Carry Permits) and 2,052,443 active FOID cards.
In early 2014 there were only 1.6 million active FOID cards, according to the Illinois State Police. So ... in 2 years that's 400,000 new people, that have never owned a gun, decided to buy a firearm ... in just one state. Yup, gun ownership is falling right off the cliff.
For the year to date, new FOID cards have been issued from a low of 8,014 to a high of 12,012 a month in 2016.

(958 posts)All of these FOID cards are for existing gun owners buying more guns to bolster their arsenals. This is just part of the backlash we have been told to expect as there are not really any new gun owners.

(16,974 posts)Are getting all of the new cards. I read that in the other group that is afraid of discussion and put politics over party by supporting Republicans before they edited the post.

(11,996 posts)the ARs Colt & everyone else sells to civilians today.
Understand the confusion a bit due to the name, but "selector lever" be darned.

(16,974 posts)Had a long thread with a person that believed that here a few months ago. Finally got that person to admit that they indeed are not the same weapons. I am surprised that the host over there that is a weapons expert has not corrected that but facts do not seem to matter over in that group.

(18,578 posts)...it's not a hosting duty to correct or even characterize whether a purported fact is true of not.
Besides, the standing of these mistakes, misconceptions and lies serve as points of information on pervasive inaccuracies which need correcting.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)That might correct inaccuracies.

(21,002 posts)Is grounds for being banned in that group. It would be embarrassing for a host to have to block himself.

(6,185 posts)If the track record of the multiple hosts there over 3 years is any evidence, most just get tired of talking to themselves and eventually drift away to some other new "cause" where they can be a "hero" again.
The original group of hosts, version 1.0, that "demanded" a control group are long gone to other interests or just gone.
Host version 2.0 spent far more time in this group trying to pick fights and losing dismally than in their own "safe haven" and is now long gone as well. One of the very, very few people our genial and forgiving host has had to toss out the door.
Now we have "Host version 3.0 - The Return of The Angry Prodigal" that left in a huff to come crawling back once the people that thwarted them had left.
Now they pick fights with people that agree with them, but not angrily enough to suit them.
Of course, any question asked is an immediate ban, because a question is another obvious NRA/ALEC/GOP/BN&SF/TWA trick

(3,813 posts)I was in the navy and so didn't use the M-16
I own a m-4 now
but except for the selector lever
they are the same right ? bbl length
twists in the bbl
important stuff like that .. it greatly effects accuracy
jmg257
(11,996 posts)Be aware the twist has changed since the 62gr became popular (vs the 55gr).
I think most have the newer rate for a while now.
I had an AR-180 with the older rate it was terrible w/the new ammo.
Civilian "M-4s" will have the legal 16" bbl length (vs 14.5)
littlewolf
(3,813 posts)we use M-4's at work .. all 16 inch bbl
I have a Bushmaster at work
some folks have Colts .. full auto
I like my semi
I tend to be more accurate ..
the folks with the colts are on the react teams
I am 60 I do not need that craziness

(16,974 posts)The trigger group is different and the lower receiver has more material removed to make it very difficult to put military specification auto or burst trigger components into the receiver. Of course that would be quite illegal as those components are classified by the ATF as machine guns and highly regulated.
