US gun lobby responsible for nation's gun violence

The National Rifle Association (NRA), one of the most influential lobbying groups in Washington, is responsible to a large extent for the gun violence epidemic across the United States, says a political analyst and peace activist in Baltimore, Maryland.

“The NRA and its Congressional and Senatorial backers (mostly all) have fought to keep such weapons in the hands of, what they determine to be, law abiding citizens,” said Myles Hoenig, who is running for Congress as a Green Party candidate.

“They rely on their interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, which they believe guarantees such rights,” Hoenig told Press TV on Sunday.

The US Constitution's Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms. Gun-rights groups, including the NRA, argue that restrictions on gun purchases would not improve public safety.

"Gunz" for the acts of criminals to blaming the NRA? Perhaps the grabbers' biggest fault is their willingness to excuse criminals for the crimes committed.

What "lawful" gun owners are those? The ones who deal in illegal guns through straw purchases or the ones whose guns have been stolen from them?

I remember the Green Party convention in Austin back in 2000. It voted down a resolution for strong gun control. This "activist" must be an outlier, but any anti-gun rant will get some kind of airplay with the media.

like the Libertarians, they have no grasp on reality. One gets their policy ideas from Ayn Rand and the other from hippie songs. Neither of them are based on facts and evidence.

“The NRA and its Congressional and Senatorial backers (mostly all) have fought to keep such weapons in the hands of, what they determine to be, law abiding citizens,”
No, what the rule of law determines are law abiding citizens.

There is no epidemic of "gun violence". There is an epidemic of heroin overdoses.

Gun-rights groups, including the NRA, argue that restrictions on gun purchases would not improve public safety.
So do most criminologists.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), one of the most influential lobbying groups in Washington, is responsible to a large extent for the gun violence epidemic across the United States, says a political analyst and peace activist in Baltimore, Maryland.

His opinion, which he does not go on to support factually.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), firearms are the cause of death for more than 33,000 people in the United States every year, a number that includes accidental discharge, murder and suicides.

Oh, we're listening to what the CDC says again? Great, lets start out by acknowledging that there are around double the defensive firearm uses as there are firearm fatalities, In America, according to the CDC:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1172191826

More than 1,000 protesters marched on Saturday in New York City to demand an end to gun violence in the country. Hundreds of parents and families joined the rally from the Brooklyn Bridge to New York City Hall.

Funny, those who are making the demands never seem to aim them at those who commit gun violence. In fact, just the opposite. They aim them at everyone that doesn't. They might actually have some credibility if they showed more genuine anger hatred and bitterness towards those pulling the triggers instead of the nra and/or gun rights supporters.

“Not everyone here has lost a loved one to gun violence. But you know, unless there’s change, it could happen to you,” she said.

fear Fear FEAR!!

Earlier this week, Parker told Newsweek she and her husband, Andy, decided to turn their grief into action by pledging to do “whatever it takes” to reduce gun violence in the country and ensure politicians supported by the NRA aren’t re-elected.

I'm calling bullshit on that one. When they say “whatever it takes”, they mean "whatever it takes to get at the guns", not “whatever it takes to reduce gun violence", otherwise they'd be pouring enormous resources into suicide prevention and actual gun safety training, AND they'd be screaming it from the rooftops.

They aren't, and nobody is fooled.

And your meme?

Total bullshit. It presumes there was a time when laws existed that would have stopped those 3 murderers.

There wasn't.

It's sick, sad, and pathetic. But at the end of the day, gun control is pretty much limited to ineffectual screeds on the Internet.

I am an NRA member that proudly stands with the organization.
