Related: About this forumStudents pressure Deal to veto guns on campus
ATLANTA Pressure is growing on Gov. Nathan Deal to veto a bill allowing guns on Georgias college campuses. So is speculation over whether the Republican, endorsed by the National Rifle Association, will risk angering conservatives again after vetoing a religious liberty bill amid concerns that it would allow discrimination.
Some parents, students and university leaders including Valdosta State Universitys interim president are urging Deal to scrap the bill. Advocacy groups have also ramped up efforts to defeat it.
A spokesman for Everytown for Gun Safety, which has bought TV and newspaper ads opposing the bill, said about 30,000 people have signed petitions, texted, called or sent emails urging the governor to veto the measure.
Deal has until May 3 to decide.

I'm sure some student and "advocacy groups" wanted desegregation vetoed as well.

(2,620 posts)1. Yes - because so many school shootings are the result of CC holders.
Wait - you mean the CC holders are NOT the problem?
Oh yeah, that's right - the problem is those who ignore the cute "gun free zone" signs, and go on a rampage - until the guys that are allowed to carry guns (finally) come and stop them.
It can't be said often enough: remember, when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away...

What *empirical* evidence do you have that legal CCW weapons at colleges are harmful?

You will find enough dodging, dancing, shouting and handwaving at that thread to fill
several seasons' worth of TV talent shows...

The age limit for concealed carry prohibits all but the oldest half of the senior class of the traditional students.
